Attempting to bury his past, Murat, an Ottoman soldier, flees his home country during the Great War and struggles to find his place in America. As he tries to make his way to the West Coast to start afresh, Murat finds a job shoveling manure where he faces poor wages, difficult living conditions, and rampant racism. As he works to make a new life, Murat must actively choose to leave behind who he was under the Ottoman Empire.
