Billy Stone, a young boy, spends all his free time searching for a lost medallion that has been hidden for centuries. A medallion that has the power to grant wishes. He believes that if he can discover it, he will be significant in everyone eyes.
One day he unearths the medallion and accidentally wishes him and his best friend, Allie, back 200 years in time.
There, he is crown king because he has found the medallion. In the village he enjoys being special. One day he is forced to surrender the medallion to rescue Allie from certain death.
Having saved Allie's life, Billy, Allie and two other kids have to find the wise man, Faleaka, to ask for help in reclaiming the medallion from the evil Cobra.
In the quest to Cobra's island, the kids have to avoid warriors, sail down canyons on vines, canoe across open waters, and sneaking into Cobra's temple cave. In the end, Billy must believe in himself enough to face Cobra and save the island's people from his slavery.
