Short Film Program # 5 – Powerful Shorts
Lily of the Feast - Lily of the Feast tells the story of an unusual turn of events occurring in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 1973. Santo Bastucci (Castelluccio), a former bookie turned banker with a rare gift for memorizing numbers, is unwittingly cast into the forefront of an aging wiseguy’s (LoBianco) bid for power. Caught between the loyalty he has for his cagey father-in-law (Sorvino), his childhood friend (Margotta) and his street wise uncle (Nascarella), Santo is confronted with a path rarely taken in their Williamsburg world. Directed by: Federico Castelluccio
Not Worth A Bullet - Walter Bukowski’s wife Maggie is shot in cold blood…but she survives. Just before the face off, the old man receives a deeply disturbing phone-call. Now with his back to the wall and the knowledge of only having caught a glimpse of the villain in a fuzzy mirror Walter puts his finger on one of the suspects. The police however gives no credence to the old man’s word. With the wisdom and patience of an aged man Walter faces the prejudice and sets a trap for the perpetrator. Directed by: Markus Lindner
Augenblicke - In the middle of the night a fight between Schenker’s (Christian Preuss) neighbors won’t let him rest. Half asleep his mind is playing tricks on him: constantly he awakes in different places. Now he has to face questioning by an inspector (Barbara Bernt) about a dead woman (Weiyi Chang), and his nightmare begins. Directed by: Martin Bargiel
